Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'New Era' for New York City in First Address
During an initial day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani committed to “transform” the metropolis, ushering in “a new era” and an ambitious beginning to his administration.
An Unprecedented Mayor
The young figure, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He also made history by being the first to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.
